Albert E. “Bo” Rivera,
Dr. Albert E. “Bo” Rivera is a licensed physician and surgeon in Alabama, board-certified diplomat of the American Osteopathic College of Dermatology, a fellowship-trained member of the American College of Mohs Surgeons as well as member of several dermatology and medical specialty organizations.
He was born and grew up in nearby Haleyville, Alabama, graduating from Haleyville High School. Afterward, he completed his undergraduate education at Auburn University, earning a degree in Premedicine and Zoology while also a letter-winning member of its' nationally ranked track and field teams. Following his hometown friend and primary care doctor's footsteps, he completed his medical training at Kansas City University of Medicine and Biosciences in Kansas City, Missouri. His internship in General Surgery was done at the University of Kentucky, in Lexington, Kentucky, followed by an Internal Medicine residency at Northside Hospital and Heart Institute in Saint Petersburg, Florida. At Northeast Regional Medical Center in Kirksville, Missouri, he completed both a Dermatology residency as well as a Dermatology research and laser fellowship under the direction of Lloyd J. Cleaver, DO. Upon completion of his residency, Dr. Rivera was nationally awarded the James Bernard, D.O. Residency Leadership Award based on integrity, respect, empowerment and initiative. The final honor in his training was completing a Mohs Micrographic Surgery subspecialty fellowship under the direction of Roger I Ceilley, MD and Andrew K. Bean, MD in West Des Moines, Iowa. Over the years he has had the opportunity to publish several articles in national and international medical journals as well as authoring chapters in medical textbooks and online. Dr. Rivera serves on the editorial boad for the Jounral of Clinical and Aesthtic Dermatology and the Journal of the American Ostepathic College of Dermatolgy as well as serving on the AOCD Editorial/Public Relations Committee and as an American Academy of Dermatolgy Liason. He has also given presentations at local, national and international venues to both non-medical and medical professionals throughout his medical career.
Dr. Rivera enjoys multiple aspects within Dermatology but has specific interest and extensive training in the prevention and treatment of skin cancers. Personally, he enjoys traveling, educating others, general fitness as well as participating in and viewing multiple sports. Numerous friends call the Madison and Huntsville area home and he hopes to contribute to and better all of the local communities. Locally, he is involved with the Huntsville Committee of 100 (Young Professionals) and is a board member of the Huntsville-Madison County Auburn Club. Dr. Rivera has also been awarded the Doctor's Choice Award in Dermatology for Madison. It will be a pleasure to meet all of the exceptional people of North Alabama and South Tennessee as we build our practice to better serve your needs!

The staff at Southeastern Skin Cancer & Dermatology works together to provide care that is focused on you, our guest. Each individual who visits is greeted with warmth and kindness. While you are with us, expect to be treated in a courteous manner as a unique person with specific concerns and needs. We expect that your entire visit should be based on respect: from your scheduling, to your minimal time in our reception area, to the education provided regarding your specific condition. Our team is built from individuals who represent the values we hope to convey through your care.
Amanda is one of our experienced receptionists that joined us in 2012. You will be greeted with her great smile as you enter the practice or enjoy her wonderful personality over the phone. She enjoyed serving the community in a similar capacity for more than 10 years prior to joining us and we are so pleased to have her as a part of our practice team! Amanda was born in Athens, Alabama but grew up in multiple locations - living in Hawaii, South Alabama, Germany, and Virginia - before returning to her roots in Athens. Amanda enjoys spending time with her family, reading, music, and dance fitness. She loves watching football and baseball and is excited to be a part of your healthcare team!
Meagan joined Southeastern Skin Cancer and Dermatology in November of 2014. Prior to bringing her work ethic to our team, she worked at Summerford Nursing Home in Faulkville, Alabama. Also, prior to our office she received training and became a Certified Phlebotomist. Growing up, Meagan was taught to treat people the way that she would want to be treated. She believes that she is so blessed to work with a team of people who have also been raised by that same statement. She has always been thrilled to help other people and states that she loves getting to apply her efforts at SESCD. When not working in our clinic, Meagan enjoys spending time with her family, especially her daughter Marley Reese. She looks forward to meeting and assisting you at your next visit!
Whitney Lewis joined the Southeastern Skin Cancer & Dermatology family in August of 2014. Previously she worked at Athens-Limestone Hospital as well as Valley Ear, Nose and Throat. Whitney enjoys riding horses and four wheelers, hiking and spending time with friends and family. While being seen in our office, she hopes to make your healthcare experience enjoyable and hopefully be proud to share with others!
Nicholas “Nick” Lindsay joined our team as a Medical Assistant in 2013. Nick’s medical education was obtained in the US Navy, completing their Naval Hospital Corps School in Great Lakes, Illinois. Upon completion of this training he performed duties as a Navy Corpsman for three years. After his military service was complete Nick continued to work in the healthcare industry. He was an active medical assistant for 9 years prior to joining our team. His experience also includes a position with American Family Care as Laboratory Manager for nearly two years. Nick is a very engaging and fun person who treats all our patients as family. Nick is an avid football fan and when the season comes around he pulls for the San Diego Chargers of the NFL and the Alabama Crimson Tide as his college team. When not at work you can find Nick playing dad and husband to his family and numerous animals. If they don’t keep him busy his electronic gadgets do!
Teri-Beth was welcomed to the Southeastern Skin Cancer & Dermatology team in the summer of 2014 after moving from her home town of Waynesboro, Tennessee to Athens, Alabama with her new husband, Matt, and Persian cat, Pearl. Teri-Beth received her Bachelors of Science Degree in Biology from Martin Methodist College in 2013 and throughout her college career, she got well acquainted with medicine by shadowing various aspects of the medical field. Just prior to becoming part of our office, Teri-Beth worked at Fast Pace Urgent Care where she gained over a year of additional medical experience. In addition, she has also decided to return to school to broaden her education by working to obtain a Master’s of Business Administration in Healthcare Management. Teri-Beth states that she feels proud and blessed to be a part of the team here at Southeastern Skin Cancer and Dermatology and desires to greet you with a smile and to make you feel like part of our family. She genuinely cares about each of our patients and looks forward to helping you in whatever way possible. When not at work Teri-Beth enjoys spending time with her family, going to church, and playing golf.
We welcome Tiffany Parcus to Southeastern Skin Cancer & Dermatology as one of our Medical Assistants. She joined our practice in 2014 after having worked as a Medical Assistant at the Clearview Cancer Institute in Huntsville for more than two years. Prior to that she also performed duties as a phlebotomist at Decatur General Hospital for two years, as well as having worked as a pharmacy technician for a year prior to that. Tiffany is an extremely outgoing and friendly native of Decatur, Alabama who loves working with people and in the healthcare profession. In her free time away from work she enjoys shopping or spending time outdoors. Tiffany, in her own words, was “raised with manners” as her grandfather helped her to become “a responsible adult” and who she is today. She looks forward to meeting you with a smile at your next visit and helping to make it as enjoyable as possible!
Okera Peoples is another one of our superb receptionists within the practice, joining us in 2012. She moved to Alabama from Detroit, Michigan and is currently continuing her educational pursuits at Athens State University seeking a degree in Human Resource Management. She loves the interaction with patients during their visit and enjoys watching the progress they make. Okera is a proud mother of three beautiful daughters - Taylour, Kameryn, and Peyton. She and her husband, Demetrius, are enthusiastic Alabama football fans. In her spare time, she visits her family in Michigan, shops, volunteers at her church, and enjoys staying in shape. Her favorite things about working at Southeastern Skin Cancer & Dermatology are being part of a staff that has passion for their profession, as well as getting to know our wonderful patients.
Cynthia “Cindy” Phillips joined the Southeastern Skin Cancer & Dermatology team in February of 2014. She was raised in Woodstock, Georgia and moved to Alabama in 2014. Cindy graduated from Chattahoochee Technical College as a Certified Medical Assistant and performed in that capacity for over 9 years prior to joining us. During that period, Cindy gained more than 3 years of experience specifically in the dermatology field. In addition, she is also a Certified Pharmacy Technician and worked previously in that role as well. Cindy has thoroughly enjoyed helping and caring for others throughout her career and has brought that excitement to our office as well. When not at work you will find her mountain biking, working on arts and crafts, or doing some volunteer work in the community.
Hannah Trosper teamed up with the Southeastern Skin Cancer & Dermatology office in November of 2014. Hannah attended Brewer High School and played four years of varsity volleyball and basketball, making it to the final four of the state tournament in both. After graduation, her educational pursuits took her to both Calhoun and Wallace Community Colleges. Prior to bringing her talents here, she worked as a receptionist and technician at Maynor, Mitchell, & Lee Eye Surgery Center. Hannah enjoys working in healthcare where she can meet and help new patients but she also hopes to pursue a career in special education. Away from her time at work, she enjoys being outdoors fishing, hunting, riding horses and four-wheelers, being an Auburn fan, spending time with family, and going to Church. Hannah hopes to provide part of the uniquely friendly and efficient experience that we pride ourselves in during your visit with us!
Brookelyn Van Hoozer
We welcomed Brookelyn to Southeastern Skin Cancer & Dermatology in 2014 as one of our friendly receptionists. Prior to joining our courteous team, she worked at CVS for over four years as both a supervisor and as a certified pharmacy technician. She brings these talents and experiences to her new position, broadening our team's expertise. In her spare time Brookelyn enjoys spending time with her boyfriend and their two dogs, Bella and Olliver. She looks forward to either speaking with you on the phone as you call for an appointment or have any questions or brightening your day as she greets you personally in our office!
